His Majesty meets with Turkish PM and calls for further coordination with Turkey

Seoul - His Majesty King Abdullah II met on the sidelines of the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyeb Erdogan during which he reviewed relations between Jordan and Turkey as well as issues of common interest, mainly developments in Syria.

At the meeting, which was attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the King and the Turkish prime minister stressed the need to intensify coordination and consultation between the two countries in light of the accelerating developments in the Middle East.The King and Erdogan also discussed the historic ties between Jordan and Turkey and means of further boosting them in various fields.

They also stressed the need to support mission of former UN Chief Kofi Anan to arrive at a political solution to the crisis in Syria, highlighting the need to continue coordination on this file.  The King and Erdogan voiced keenness of both Jordan and Turkey to preserve unity and stability of Syria and end violence in the Arab country.

On Mideast peace, His Majesty stressed the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the right of the Palestinians in establishing an independent and viable state on the Palestinian national soil.

Jordan, the King said, will continue its efforts at all levels to support the peace process and help the Palestinians and Israelis to return to the negotiating table.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Director of the King's Office Imad Fakhoury, Jordan's Ambasador in Seoul and a number of Turkish officials.
