During his meeting with the Austrian president, they tackled Jordanian-Austrian ties and ways of developing and maintaining coordination and consultation in various fields.

His Majesty stressed the importance of reaching an international consensus to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, stop the cycle of violence, conflict and bloodshed, and maintain the unity of Syria and its people.

The King highlighted burdens borne by Jordan as a result of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees on its territory, stressing the need to intensify efforts by the United Nations, international institutions and donor countries to support Jordan in alleviating the mounting pressure on its resources. On peace efforts, he called on the international community to support peacemaking efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East, realize the two-state solution  and establish an independent and viable Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil.

The King also met in New York with former U.S. President Bill Clinton and discussed with him Middle East issues, especially the Syrian crisis and efforts to achieve peace.

The King stressed the need to push the international community to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis to end the conflict and the suffering of the Syrian people at home and abroad. Turning to peacemaking between the Palestinians and Israelis, His Majesty called for building on efforts made by the U.S. administration and Arab and international parties to achieve tangible progress in the peace process.
