Their Majesties and HRH Crown Prince attend Jordan's Independence Day Ceremony
His Majesty King Abdullah II attended a ceremony at Raghadan Palace marking the 68th anniversary of Jordan’s independence in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and Crown Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah. Upon arrival at the celebration’s site, the King was received by Crown Prince Al-Hussein, the Royal Court chief and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.
The King arrived to a 21-gun salute as a guard of honor greeted him and a brass band played the national anthem of Jordan. Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Senate President Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh, Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh and President of the Judicial Council Hisham Al Tal delivered speeches that focused on this occasion and the accomplishments made by Jordan in various fields.
The speakers highlighted the importance of Independence Day, noting that independence, from its first day, represented an opportunity for Jordanians to seek progress and development. Speakers also stressed Jordanians’ allegiance to the Royal family and their support for the reform process.
At the ceremony, which was attended by Royal family members, as well as civil and military officials, the King conferred Royal decorations on several national institutions and figures, in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the country’s drive towards development.
